POPIT - 4View Model
Introduction
POPIT, also referred to as 4-View Model or holistic model outlines the various dimensions within an organisation. Using POPIT, we can interpret and analyse the dependencies among these various aspects from organisational structures, people, processes, information and technology. It provides a framework to derive a comprehensive and integrated approach for understanding the dependencies of the proposed change on the hard and soft aspects within the organisation.
Holistic model identifies the four areas within the organisation, as mentioned in the acronym POPIT:
- Processes - Key business processes to deliver products & services to customers
- Organisation - Structure, resources, roles and responsibilities
- People - Staff and resources who carry out the work
- Information Technology - Hardware systems and software applications that support the organisation's work
Purpose
To get a holistic view of all the areas in the organisation that are either directly or indirectly impacted by the proposed strategic initiative/program/project.
